Towel Talk

To reduce the amout of electricity used for washing and drying lush terry cloth towels,I've replaced them with microfiber shammy-type cloth that is very absorbant. I dry the towels in the sun on a folding dryer rack, and it takes very little time.
The microfiber towels are more absorbant than terry towels, and they take much less room to store on the linen shelf.
My husband, who loves a daily shower and a dip in the pool, was reluctant at first but soon found that his new towels were doing a good job. The thick towels were very slow to dry on a rack in our humid Florida summer.
Big box stores have some microfiber towels. Sometimes you'll find them in the pet or auto (washing) section.

Sunshine rice

Sunshine Rice
Direct solar energy can be used to cook minute rice in a sause pan.

Put the recipe amount of rice, water and cooking oil in the pan with the lid on.
Set the pan in direct sun light on a brick or tile for 3 hours.
The rice will be warm. Heat it more in a microwave and serve.
